Just a half-hour north of Cologne on the Rhine is Düsseldorf, home to the other great Northern German ale, Altbier. The name means “old beer,” and the color, a very deep copper, signals its pre-pilsner origins.
Our Altbier features a dark-bread maltiness that comes from Munich malt, and a spine of hop bitterness that comes from Hallertau Tradition and spicy Saphir hops. Lagering (aging) provides a smooth, silky body.
